VOS Program Announces Sustained Observing Excellence Awards
While the VOS program appreciates and is truly grateful for all ships who report their real-time weather conditions, special recognition is needed for those ships that go above and beyond the basic level of effort.
Annual award plaques are presented to recognize the efforts of each ship and occasionally, to the shipping company itself. But what about those ships who continually set the bar for others to follow? It is for these stellar performers that the VOS program has created a new award —The Five and Ten Year Observing Excellence Pennant.
These pennants will be awarded to the US VOS ships who achieve five or ten consecutive years of annual award recognition.
After looking through the VOS records starting as far back as 1999, 27 ships have earned the right to fly the Five Year pennant and several are very close to the Ten Year award already!
